Jacobson Commercial was awarded the contract for the Crocus Plains East Roof Replacement in spring of 2022, with an aggressive timeline of completion by October 2022.

This involved systematically removing 20,000 sq/ft of existing roofing, cleaning and prepping the existing steel deck, and installing the new mod-bit system while maintaining proper temporary seals and drainage on the roof.  With the help of a strong group of trades and careful coordination and scheduling we were able to successfully hand over this project on time.

One of the biggest challenges on this project was the repair work required to the existing masonry walls. The design required building new roofing tie in’s to the wall system, and in order to do this we needed to temporarily shore 330’ of masonry wall.  We were able to coordinate the temporary shoring, demolition, framing, insultation, tie-in’s, flashings, and masonry infill in portions that were manageable for all trades, providing temporary seals as required to eliminate the potential for leaks.

The new roof also required a new layout of the drainage systems, which required interior work.  Asbestos abatement was required to open up the required areas for this mechanical work to be completed.  New ceiling tiles were provided in the areas affected by construction.  The majority of this work was completed over the summer break, limiting the disruption to the school and staff.
